Thank you for the great blog, I really enjoyed reading about your stay in Costa Rica. My wife and I are making our first trip there at the end of this month, and your blog solidified my decision to stay at El Remanso (tried to get La Vainilla, but of course it was booked). I have been corresponding with Adriana at El Remanso, and they have been a huge help with our stay and we haven't even stepped foot in their establishment, thats service!!!

Thanks again,

Alan & Maria.

Sandy - Thanks for the feedback on our blog and photos! El Remanso was truly a special experience for us. We'd go back in a heartbeat. I know what you're talking about with regards to the sketchy information about these Oso resorts. There were very few reviews of El Remanso when we were doing our research, but our gut told us it was the right place for us to go. And our gut was right.

No electricity after 6pm? I don't think so. This wasn't the case when we were there. But you will spend lots of time walking from place to place in the dark so flashlights are a must. Staying in the Vainilla you should be comfortable sharing your space with bugs and bats :). No Mosquitoes though, which was nice.

Have fun on your trip! I wish I was going back in February.

Hi Chris, Edie and Natalie ( I hope Edie is the right name),
I have just gone through your blog on El Remanso, and I must tell you, it
was absolutely amazing! I have been surfing Trip Advisor for months now,
trying desperately to get a glimpse into this area of the world, and your
blog blew away anything I've read so far.
My husband and I will be staying at El Remanso for 7 days in the latter
part of February. We have booked the same cabin as you (La Vainilla)and
I am counting the days! I have been to Costa Rica 5 times before, but
always to the northern more touristed areas. My dream has always been
to travel to the Osa.
If you can impart any other pertinent info regarding the resort, ie, what to
take(I hear there is no electricity after 6 p.m.?) or anything else you think
might help, please let me know.
Your blog read like a short story, and those photos were all so beautifully
taken. And you also look like a very nice family!
We live in Ontario, Canada, approximately one hour from Toronto, just
north of a little town of 15,000 people called Port Hope.
We live in a century farmhouse on 50 acres and I am an absolute nature
nut...you'd have to be to live out here!
Send an email when you have time...I'd love to hear from you!
Sincerely, Sandy and John
