Our first ski trip of the season was a coooooooold one. There were ten fresh inches of snow, but very little beneath that. Where’s the snow?? Regardless it was a pretty swell trip, hangin’ out with Beth and Ian and their girls. I christened my new skis, introducing one to an enormous rock, leaving a healthy gouge. It had to happen I guess, but on the first day!?!
I didn’t carry a real camera while skiing, so no photos, but my phone does shoot video, so here you go:
Natalie, Sophie and Meite blazing down the Mountain Run at Squaw at the end of the day, and a Shirley Lake on-chair interview.
Going through our photo library tonight I came across some stop-motion experiments Natalie and I did while waiting for Edie to get her hair cut. This was a couple months ago, and I had completely forgotten about it. Some if it was kinda fun, so I strung it all together with some music and away we go….
In between fall soccer season and spring soccer season, Natalie is now playing indoor soccer. I managed to capture a quick video of a couple minutes of her first game on December 13th with my phone, just for grins. Sorry, no editing, no titles, no music overdub. Just raw soccer, and the muffled voices of parents chatting… Oh, so Natalie’s #20, right defense in this case…
Just the other day I was reading on Photojojo a great stop-motion movie tutorial and since Natalie had Tara over for a sleepover and the next mornimg we were looking for something constructive to do we decided to make a stop-motion movie of our own. And here it is…
I think it came out pretty cool. We learned alot from this, so the next one is going to be outta site! Natalie and Tara are already working on the storyline. This was done with my Canon Rebel XT, and about 300 photos. Music is Rusted Root. Oh, and I used iMovie because my Final Cut Express install is messed up. Not sure why. But it turns out iMovie was quite well suited to this.
We spent the weekend in Tahoe, somehow managing to squeeze our trip in between several late-season blizzards. And what amazing snow conditions! Saturday was a full day of skiing at Sugar Bowl, not too cold, not too snowy, not too sunny. A little of everything. And great skiing. with my slightly broken little SD10 I shot this video of Natalie and her friend Annie flying down Tunnel 41 off of the Mt Judah chair (Annie’s first Blue run!). Didn’t get many photos of the weekend, but did snap a few of the morning after inspection of the amazing sled course Dave and I built. If I do say so myself, it was probably the best sled run ever.
Finally got around to putting together the footage I shot of Jules’ son Griffin back in July. It’s a new movie called spin. Filmed in scenic Alameda. Still makes me dizzy just thinking about it….
On a windy Saturday morning… early, very early Saturday morning, the Iguanas matched up against the White Pandas. The Pandas were much younger and smaller, affording the Iguanas an opportunity to fine tune their offensive game.
Natalie scored her first soccer goal ever, and quickly followed it up wth another. We were all very excited. And especially exciting was the fact that today was the day we decided to shoot some video, and I happened to be filming in the right place at the right time to catch both goals. Here’s a quick clip of the first goal (a little bitta mash-up, sorry. I can’t help it!): Watch the movie: GOOOAALLLLL!!!!.
