Is Beck a Spammer?

Monday, April 3rd, 2006

I just got some “hot stock tip spam” with this as the lead in:

alarm clock drunkard agency, abolition rigid in kosher learning disability as palpable, resale the of Pisces in lasso on omission photo car of entrant to hick persecutor of an corkscrew cantaloupe, feasible evaluate, in of inspirational promising. can this approve obtainable, pair social, scavenge realistic, regulation to wasp judicious as liner. free reconsider outright hate metallurgist the heartily a astounding the Oscar insurance permission Fri., to plaque marsupial rotate culpability the was assembly line: of unnatural mastermind pretense pubescence appetizing cannibal evacuate the tombstone a anxious assuredly fortify and as fizzy. Rd.,. echo racket social studies? jauntily bait lad passionately of ledger

I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure these are Beck lyrics.

I Prefer News Sources with a Surfer Bias

Wednesday, February 8th, 2006

Who cares about the media’s liberal bias. What I’m always looking for is a media with a surfer bias. Which is the primary reason I read the SF Chronicle (That and the cartoons by Don Asmussen).

Yesterday was that bigwave surfing contest they have at Mavericks every year. I don’t really have an interest in going out there and watching it (parking 2 miles away, crowding along the side of a muddy cliff with 50,000 people, watching surfers half a mile out to sea). And I don’t really care who wins it. But I do look forward to waking up the next morning and seeing the half page photo on the front page of the Cronicle of an insane surfer flying down the face o the worlds largest wave.

This morning was no disappointment:

Just lovely. Thank You Chronicle. You made my day. More Chronicle photos of the event.

John Made us Pie. We Like Pie

Tuesday, December 13th, 2005

Over Thanksgiving weekend I swapped pager duty with John at work. To thank me he make me a pie. An amazing apple pie. We’ve been enjoying it for the last few days. We really like pie. I’m thinking I like the idea of people making me pie.
