Regardless it was a pretty swell trip, hangin’ out with Beth and Ian and their girls. I christened my new skis, introducing one to an enormous rock, leaving a healthy gouge. It had to happen I guess, but on the first day!?!

I didn’t carry a real camera while skiing, so no photos, but my phone does shoot video, so here you go:

Natalie, Sophie and Meite blazing down the Mountain Run at Squaw at the end of the day, and a Shirley Lake on-chair interview.

And what amazing snow conditions! Saturday was a full day of skiing at Sugar Bowl, not too cold, not too snowy, not too sunny. A little of everything. And great skiing. with my slightly broken little SD10 I shot this video of Natalie and her friend Annie flying down Tunnel 41 off of the Mt Judah chair (Annie’s first Blue run!). Didn’t get many photos of the weekend, but did snap a few of the morning after inspection of the amazing sled course Dave and I built. If I do say so myself, it was probably the best sled run ever.

See the Photos!.

First weekend of February we rented a ski cabin with Beth & Ian and Jesse & Ami. The cabin was nice, quirky and full of stuff, including a 80 inch projection TV and pretty much every movie and TV show ever made on DVD and VHS. Oh, and a hot tub. The first day of skiing was like an amazing late spring day. Lots of sun, a bit icy in the morning and softening up in the afternoon. Kids all did morning lessons, before cutting loose in the afternoon.

The second day was snowy, and we decided to hang around the cabin and focus on the important stuff, like sledding and chocolate brownies.

Day three was like day one, spring skiing in February. Doesn’t bode well for the rest of the ski season, but on a vacation with a bunch of kids, you can’t complain about good weather. Kids had a blast, and that’s all that matters in the end.

See the skiing and sledding and hottubbing photos.
