Dear God Happy Birthday. How are you? I am fine thank you. I know your busy I have just one quick question, actually more of an observation, not complaining, just curious why was it so cold today and down right chilly tonight? I can hardly move I’m so cold.Don’t get me wrong, a 59 degree high is great and 45 degrees at night is refreshing. Terrific! In fact as a little side note, I got to wear a wool coat, hat and gloves today that I love to wear when I visit Boston and New York in the winter. So you see it’s all really great—just feels a little cold for L.A—but again, good, really good—just chilly—like freezing, like brrrr cold, especially for us L.A. natives. So just to be certain that there is no confusion here, nothing but 100% gratitude coming from me! I love the cold especially when I’m visiting the cold, that’s a perfect time for the cold when I’m visiting the cold. You know taking in some Christmas shopping and a show in New York City during December with my amazing wife, or a little romantic ski retreat to Deer Valley, incredible, by the way particularly nice job on Deer Valley, the place is stunning and thank you for my wife she is amazing. You heard me loud and clear on that one, amen! Now I know your not asking my opinion but lets just say going out on a limb, you might be curious to know what I think would be the ideal weather for L.A. this time of year. Well that would around 80 by day and 75 or so at night—clear of course but you already know that I’m sure and I know your not asking for my opinion and I completely respect that. You’re in charge. You are the man! Mr. Big, the biggest. By the way, I love Mary, Jesus and the Holy Spirit too. Huge fan of the Holy Trinity and Mary. Would you please give them my regards, unless it is that they are here right now and in that case, Hello, I love you and thanks.
So once again, just to be perfectly clear, no complaints coming from me here, just a little cold, cold like an ice cube but in a really fancy and great drink. So perfectly happy just really cold—cold like San Francisco should be. But no complaints coming from here at all. 100% gratitude from me. Fantastic job by the way on this whole life thing, lots of fun things to do, I love my family and my life. Incredible, you did a great job! You da man, seriously, you are the man. All good here and don’t worry at all about the cold. I know your busy. I’ll be fine. So thanks for talking, or listening and I love you. Amen.

They say that spending time with the relatives over the holidays has it’s ups and downs. This video demonstrates that this is true. Literally.
Front seat: Uncle Buzz and myself. Back seat: the nieces Madison and Brianna outta Texas. And the car in front: Aunt Susan and cousin Brenda.
Filmed the day after Christmas on the Giant Dipper at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. At right is a picture snapped by the coaster cam, revealing my filming technique, using my not-so-steady-cam. This done with my new Olympus 790SW.

Yes, yes, yes that was me you saw a week or so ago on the CBS detective series Criminal Minds, in the role of Staff Detective. Thanks for all your supportive inquiries, and emails. I am just so truly grateful for your thoughtful suggestions of Emmy and Grammy consideration. I regret to say that such recognition has typically not been bestowed upon background actors in spite of how outstanding their performance might be. Of course this might all change thanks to your petition, signatures and related grass-roots efforts.
Be sure to watch for me tonight on NBC’s highly acclaimed doctor series ER in the role of an Ice skater – unlike with Criminal Minds, with tonight’s ER episode you might have to look pretty hard as I wiz around the rink. Fortunately my outstanding performance, dazzling ice skating form and choice as an actor in tonight’s ER episode should aid in this effort. One quick story about the shooting of tonight’s episode; James Woods who is the guest star in the episode, Maura Tierney aka Abby Lockhart and I were just skating around the rink when – well perhaps this story will require more time than is appropriate for this forum. Suffice it to say, James Woods, Maura Tierney and me.
Additional look for me this month as I Guest Star on NBC’s highly success daily daytime series Starting Over.
Cheers and thanks,
Buzz

So I shared with Alli today this brilliant idea I had; that is that to send an email out to all our family and friends reminding them that my birthday will quickly be upon us and point out there was still plenty of time for them to express their love with a parceled or hand delivered gift. Alli didn’t really like that idea, in fact she though it was horrible – I don’t know, I still think it is a pretty good idea but needless to say, that email will not be going out.
Following our conversation, and while I was still contemplating the genius of my idea be it ever so slightly rained upon by my wife, it occurred to me that I should share this tail on my blog. Now considering that my blog readership doesn’t really exist, yet, (I prefer to think of it as early-stage, grassroots, developing, cult groundswell), I thought that I it would be safe to post this tail here without the risk of divorce and I hope you have enjoyed it.
By the way there is still time to parcel me your thoughtful birthday gift and while the idea of sending a check or cash are often frowned upon by others I tend to think that either make a very lovely expression.

Ok so I just had to blog this tonight. This evening Leilani and I set up our electric train around our Christmas tree. We then proceeded to walk Jesus, Marry, Joseph, The Three Wise Men, The Angel, Shepard and animals from our nearby nativity scene (also under out tree), into the various train cars (coach, freight, zoo, engine and caboose) and then took them all for a ride around the tree for numerous laps – of course intermittently stopping to check for tickets, appropriate paper work, to disembark, and re-embark. Leilani loves the nativity, Jesus and our train, and her combining them was so innocent and endearing. A great combination I might add, given it’s local and scale our Nativity scene does look a lot like a train depot and frankly I don’t think God didn’t minded the ride, in fact I got to say they all looked pretty happy to me. Leilani and I had a great time, thank you God.
Another incident that I found particularly touching this evening was that after we drove the train back to the station, washed up for bed, gone potty, read several stories in bed, done the nightly head rubbing, back scratching, butterfly-kisses, followed by Eskimo, on the lips and cheek kisses, and saying “I love you - will you please come in and snuggle with Mommy and me in the morning” with agreement confirmed, and giving Leilani the final tucking in with Grandma’s hand nit “rainbow blanket,” which she so dearly cherishes; I finally walked the 10 steps to door and almost had it shut when Leilani calls out to me, “Papa, you forget to tell me that you cant wait to see me in the morning,” which of course is true and was also an accurately noted closing statement oversight on my part. Needless to say, I can’t wait to see Leilani in the morning. How blessed we are.
